Approach: Located in Gundicha Square, in close proximity to Puri bus stand

This temple also referred as Garden House of Lord Jagannath is located at the end of Badadanda (The Grand Road, as wide as any freeway, extending from Jagannath Temple to Gundicha Temple) northeast of the Jagannatha Temple. At the time of the Ratha-yatra (Car festival), Lord Jagannatha, Balbhadra and Subhadra visit the Gundicha Temple and stay there for one week. The temple is divided into four parts Vimana, Jagamohan, Natamandap, and Bhogmandap. And the Ratan-vedi on which the three holy idols are placed is 4 feet high and 19 feet long. There is a beautiful garden in temple compound.

The temple is named after Gundicha, the queen of King Indradyumna, who is said to have built the original structure of the Jagannath temple.

Approach: It is situated 20 kms from Puri town on the left side of the road while going ahead from Puri to Satapada in Brahmagiri town.

Alarnatha Temple is dedicated to Vishnu and located in Brahmagiri, Orissa, near Puri. The temple becomes crowded during krishnapaksha (second fortnight of the month, the period of the fading moon) of Ashadha, right after Snana Yatra (a bathing festival), as lord Jagannath can’t be seen in Puri. The temple is about 23 kms from Jagannath Puri. The Temple opens at 6 A.M. and closes at 9:30 P.M.

Although it is not a huge tourist place, however it is a famous religious destination for Krishna devotees. The idol has four arms. The idols of Queens Rukmini and Satyabhama and Chaitanya Mahaprabhu are also found inside the temple.

Chakra Narasimha or Nrusingha Temple: Also known as Chakratirtha  is an important pilgrimage site near the sea shore of Puri and at a distance of 3 kilometers from the Lord Jagannath temple. Abhaya Narasimha , Chakra Narasimha and Lakshmi Narasimha are worshiped in this temple.

There is a big wheel of granite at this temple which is worshipped as Sudarshana Chakra along with an image of Narayana in the temple compound. It is also known as a shrine dedicated to Varuna, the father of Goddess Lakshmi.

A shady banyan tree, known as Angira Bata is seen on the east of Lord jagannath Temple.

It is surrounded by an old boundary wall and associated with the great saptarishi Angira. The present batch of the Sapta Rishis: Bhrigu, Atri, Angirasa, Vasishta, Pulastya, Pulalaha and Kratu.

Ardhasani, a small white-washed temple, one of the most famous temples in Puri on the Grand Road is dedicated to goddess Ardhasani (Subhadra). There is a mythological belief that once Goddess Subhadra had saved Puri from flood by drinking half of the flood water, thus named Ardhasani. The best time to visit the Ardhasani Temple is during the celebration of Rath Yatra (Car Festival). During the Car Festival, on his way back from the Gundicha Temple, Lord Jagannath is offered here a special preparation made out of rice known as podapitha (fire-baked cake).

Shyamakali is a temple dedicated to Goddess kali at Bali Sahi near jagannath Temple of Puri city. It is one of the oldest temple of Puri, where four armed Kali is worshipped on several festival occasions like Kali Puja, Durga Puja, Deepavali, Jagadhatri puja with ample fondness. The temple is constructed using Laterite stones. Another bright side of this temple is Goddess Shyamakali is the official deity of Gajapati Maharaja (King) of Puri. The temple is under the supervision of the Gajapati Maharaja of Puri.

Siddha Mahavir Temple

Siddha Mahavir temple is situated near Gundicha temple of Puri, at a distance of about 1 km to the north-east. It is one of the important shrines of Puri, dedicated to Lord Hanuman. This temple is built in sand stones. Tulsidas, the great Awadhi devotee, philosopher, and the author of Ramcharitmanas had once stayed here for some time during his visit to Puri. The Local people have great faith on Lord Mahavir and visit the temple in large numbers.

It is one of the four cardinal Mathas founded by Adi Sankaracharya (The Greatest Indian Philosopher). The other three Mathas are Sringeri matha on the Sringeri hills in south, the Sharada matha on the Dwaraka coast in west, the Jyotish matha at Badrinath in north). The Matha houses Lord Jagannath and Goddess Vimala.
